You Can’t Make These Things Up

December 7, 2008

Mark Steyn wrote yesterday about Amazon’s “Twelve Days of Giving” special sale. Later he informs us about a reader who complained to Amazon about replacing the word “Christmas”. This is the response the reader got from Amazon:

Please accept our sincere apologies if you were offended by the use of the word “Christmas” on our website. Our intention in referring to Christmas is to give specific ordering guidance for a specific holiday, not to exclude other faiths.

Steyn wonders

… if it might be time for Amazon to crank up a computer-generated apology sincerely apologizing if you were offended by receiving the incorrect sincere apology.

The French Cowboy hopes for them that Amazon also has a computer-generated sincere apology to all the atheists who are probably just bombarding Amazon with e-mails complaining that they didn’t write that their intention is “not to exclude other faiths or non-faiths.”
