Arizona Immigration Law to Holder: ¡Mirame!

May 20, 2010

The way the Obama administration people (and Obama himself) are reacting to the new Arizona immigration law is embarrassing and appalling. Not only do they publicly and explicitly condemn it within the country– thereby painting the majority of Americans who support the law as bigots — they also use it as another opportunity to apologise to, and prostrate before, other nations with human rights records that include running gulags.

Since the law has passed there was also a string of important Obama administration officials who claimed they hadn’t read it — after they had publicly denounced it. The French Cowboy doesn’t believe that those people really didn’t read the law. More likely, they say they haven’t in a pathetic defence for their unjustifiable opinion. Imagine Holder or Napolitano had said in their respective hearings that, yes, indeed, they have studied the law in detail. How could they possibly defend their silly statements concerning it?

Knowing that their concerns about the law are unjustified unless Arizona’s law enforcement consists of law-breaking racists, the Obama people keep a backdoor open that allows them to blame all their false statements on the law on others. Like Holder was saying: “Well, what I’ve said is that I’ve not made up my mind. I’ve only made the comments that I’ve made on the basis of things that I’ve been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, television, talking to people who are on the review panel…looking at the law.”

Looking at the law, but not reading it. An interesting approach for an attorney general of the United States.
